This Privacy Policy explains exactly what the MD PDF Scanner Android app (com.mdtechnology.pdfscanner) collects, stores, uses, shares and protects. MD Technology ("Developer", "we", "our", "us") operates Android applications, software, products and services.

BY INSTALLING, USING, OR OTHERWISE ACCESSING MD PDF SCANNER, YOU AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND GIVE YOUR EXPLICIT AND INFORMED CONSENT TO THE PROCESSING OF YOUR DATA IN ACCORDANCE WITH IT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE APP.

1. Summary — The Short Version

  • Your scans never leave your device. Every captured or imported page image, every generated PDF and every recognised (OCR) text stays in app-private storage on your phone.
  • Text recognition (OCR) runs fully offline using text-recognition models bundled inside the app. No page image and no recognised text is ever transmitted to us or to anyone else.
  • The app has no account and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
  • We do not use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or any third-party analytics SDK in this app.
  • The free plan shows Google AdMob ads, which means Google may process your Android Advertising ID and device information to serve and measure them. The Pro plan removes ads entirely and makes no ad requests.
  • Pro is a one-time Google Play purchase. Google Play processes the payment; we receive only an entitlement, never your card details.
  • We do not sell personal information.

2. Information We May Collect (Depending on the App)

  • Personal information you provide: only if you email us. We keep your message and email address so we can reply.
  • Device information: device model, OS version, app version, language and settings, read by Google Play Billing and the ad SDK where required to operate them.
  • Device identifiers: the Android Advertising ID and Google's ad-services identifiers, used only by Google Mobile Ads in the free plan.
  • IP address and approximate location: inferred from network data by Google Play and Google Mobile Ads. We do not collect precise GPS location.
  • App usage information: the Play Store collects install and crash statistics for our listing under Google's own terms. MD PDF Scanner itself contains no analytics SDK, so the app does not report your in-app activity to us.
  • Payment information: processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We receive a purchase entitlement flag only; no purchase token is ever written to your device.
  • Cookies and web technologies: our website may use cookies or similar storage for preferences and basic analytics.

2A. App-Specific Disclosures — MD PDF Scanner (com.mdtechnology.pdfscanner)

The MD PDF Scanner app specifically:

  • Uses Google AdMob to display a banner advertisement and an occasional interstitial advertisement. The interstitial is only armed after you successfully export a PDF and is shown at most once every five minutes.
  • Removes all ads for Pro users. When Pro is active the app makes no ad network requests at all — no banner, no interstitial, no identifiers read for advertising.
  • Uses the AD_ID permission and Google's ad-services permissions (ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS), as required by Google AdMob for advertising on the free plan.
  • Performs OCR entirely on your device. Text recognition uses ML Kit with five language models bundled inside the app: Latin script, Simplified/Traditional Chinese, Devanagari, Japanese and Korean. Because the models are bundled rather than downloaded, recognition works with no network connection and no page image is ever uploaded.
  • Stores only your documents and preferences on your device. Captured and imported page images, generated searchable PDFs, your chosen OCR language and your appearance (System / Light / Dark) are saved in app-private storage. None of this is transmitted to us.
  • Uses the camera only while you are scanning. The camera preview is the only feature that needs CAMERA, and the permission is requested at that moment, not at first launch.
  • Imports pictures without any storage permission. Import uses the Android system Photo Picker, which grants access only to the specific images you choose. Those images are immediately copied into app-private storage; we never see your whole gallery.
  • Does not require an account. There is no login, registration or sign-in in this app.
  • Does not collect your phone number, precise GPS location, contacts, files, microphone, or your gallery beyond the images you explicitly select.
  • Does not use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or any advertising attribution SDK beyond Google Mobile Ads.
  • Exports only on your instruction. Generated PDFs are shared through the Android Sharesheet using a read-only, revocable file grant. We cannot see what you share or where it goes.
  • Disables backup and device transfer for your scans, so your documents are not copied into Android backup or moved to a new device by the system.
  • Runs no foreground service. Scanning, OCR and PDF export are user-initiated and complete while the app is in the foreground.

3. How We Use Information

  • Operate, maintain and improve the Apps and website.
  • Fix bugs and ensure compatibility.
  • Serve and measure advertising in free ad-supported Apps.
  • Process purchases and entitlements via Google Play.
  • Provide support and respond to deletion, refund or legal requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4. Permissions We Request — MD PDF Scanner

MD PDF Scanner requests the following. Every permission is either core to scanning, or required by Google Play / AdMob.

Required Permissions

  • CAMERA — Requested at runtime, only while the scanner screen is open. Required to photograph a page. The app cannot scan without it.
  • INTERNET — Used by Google Mobile Ads on the free plan and by Google Play Billing to verify your Pro purchase. Scanning, OCR and PDF generation work entirely offline.
  • com.android.vending.BILLING — Required by Google Play Billing for the one-time Pro unlock. Never user-grantable.

Advertising Permissions (free plan only)

  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — Required by the ad SDK to check connectivity before requesting an ad.
  • com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID — The Android Advertising ID, required by Google AdMob.
  • ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS — Google advertising services permissions required by the AdMob SDK.

Library Permissions

  • WAKE_LOCK — Held by Google advertising/measurement libraries while an ad loads.
  • com.mdtechnology.pdfscanner.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION — An internal AndroidX receiver permission generated by the app libraries.

Permissions We Do NOT Request

MD PDF Scanner does not request, and never will request:

  • READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, or broad file access — imports use the Photo Picker instead.
  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION
  • READ_CONTACTS / WRITE_CONTACTS
  • RECORD_AUDIO
  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE — the app declares no foreground service and requests no foreground service permission.
  • Any background, boot or accessibility permission.

5. Data Sharing

  • Service providers: hosting, support tooling or crash diagnostics bound by confidentiality and purpose limits.
  • Advertising providers: in free ad-supported Apps (Google AdMob), identifiers and ad interactions may be processed to serve and measure ads under Google's policies.
  • Payment processing: Google Play processes transactions under Google's terms.
  • Legal and safety: where required by law, court order, fraud prevention, or protection of rights, safety and security.

We do not sell personal information.

Your scanned documents are never shared with us or with advertisers. They remain in app-private storage unless you choose to share them yourself.

6. Data Security

We apply reasonable administrative, technical and organizational measures appropriate to each app's risk profile. In MD PDF Scanner specifically: your documents are held in app-private storage inaccessible to other apps, cleartext network traffic is disabled, exported files are shared through revocable read-only grants, and Android backup and device-transfer are switched off for your scans. No method is fully secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

  • On-device scans and PDFs remain until you delete them or uninstall the app.
  • Support correspondence is kept as long as needed to resolve requests.
  • Purchase entitlement records are kept per accounting and legal needs.
  • Where retention is legally required, data is kept for that period and then deleted or anonymised.

8. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

  • Request access, correction or deletion of applicable personal data: contactus@mdtechnology.online.
  • Erase everything yourself at any time: open the app and choose Profile → Your data → Delete all data. This permanently removes every document, page image and generated PDF from your device immediately.
  • Uninstall MD PDF Scanner to remove all remaining app data, or clear it via Android Settings → Apps → MDPDF Scanner → Storage → Clear data.
  • Reset or opt out of personalised ads in Android Settings → Google → Ads (affects the free plan).
  • Revoke the camera permission in system settings at any time.
  • International users: rights vary by jurisdiction; we respond in line with applicable law.

9. Third-Party Services

MD PDF Scanner uses the following third-party services. Each collects data under its own privacy policy.

Google AdMob

Used on the free plan only to serve a banner and, occasionally, an interstitial advertisement. AdMob may process your Advertising ID, IP address, device information and ad interaction data to serve and measure advertisements. See the Google Privacy Policy. The Pro upgrade removes all ads and all ad network requests.

Google Play Billing

Processes the one-time Pro purchase and verifies your entitlement. Google may collect data per its Privacy Policy.

Google ML Kit Text Recognition

Runs on-device using models bundled in the app. Recognised text is not transmitted to Google or to us.

Android PDFBox (Apache 2.0 open-source library)

Runs entirely on-device to generate searchable PDFs. It has no network access.

Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)

MD PDF Scanner uses Google's UMP to request your consent before showing personalised advertising in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and to provide the "Ad privacy choices" control under Profile → Privacy. You can change your choice at any time from that same screen. UMP persists your choice on your device. See the Google Privacy Policy.

Not used in this app

MD PDF Scanner does not use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Facebook SDK, or any third-party attribution or social SDK.

10. Advertising Consent

MD PDF Scanner embeds Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). In regions where consent is required — the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — the app asks for your consent before any advertising request is made.

Specifically:

  • No ad is requested before your decision is recorded. The app does not initialise the advertising SDK, request a banner, or request an interstitial until consent has been resolved.
  • Where consent is required and you do not grant it, no advertising request is made at all. The scanner, OCR and PDF export continue to work normally with no ads.
  • Consent is re-verified every time the app is resumed, not cached by us, so withdrawing your choice takes effect.
  • If you dismiss the consent form without making a choice, no advertising request is made.
  • If the consent service cannot be reached, the app treats that as no consent and serves no ads. An error here never blocks scanning or exporting.
  • The interstitial advertisement is additionally only prepared after you have successfully exported a PDF, and never before consent has been resolved.

Change your choice at any time, from inside the app: Profile → Privacy → Ad privacy choices. This opens Google's privacy options form, where you can review and amend your consent.

You can also control personalised advertising at the OS level:

  • Android: Settings → Privacy & security → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization" (wording varies by Android version).
  • Or visit Google Ads Settings.

Purchasing Pro removes advertising from the app entirely and disables all advertising, including the consent prompt.

11. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

Our apps are general-audience and not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. International Users and Data Transfers

The Developer is based in India and serves users worldwide. Where data is processed using Google Play or Google Mobile Ads providers, it may be transferred to and processed in other countries with different data-protection laws (including the United States, where Google's servers are located).

13. Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data at any time. Email contactus@mdtechnology.online with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and include the app name and any relevant details. We will process your request within 30 days.

You can also erase everything yourself immediately and without contacting us: Profile → Your data → Delete all data inside the app, or Android Settings → Apps → MDPDF Scanner → Storage → Clear data.

14. Changes to This Policy

We update this page with a new version number and Last Updated date. Material changes are announced here; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. App-specific changes also appear in the affected Google Play listing where practicable.

15. Compliance Note

This policy describes MD PDF Scanner's actual data practices. Where this page and the app's Google Play Data safety section differ, the Data safety section reflects what the app does at submission time. Each application must independently comply with applicable Google Play policies and applicable law.
